YEU Cyprus stands for Youth for Exchange and Understanding Cyprus and it is a non-political, non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Cyprus. It was established in 1995 with the aim to foster closer co-operation and better understanding among the young people of the world through the exchange of information, experiences and ideas. YEU Cyprus is one of the biggest youth organizations in Cyprus numbering more than 1000 members. It is considered to be one of the most active organizations of the island realizing several activities both on international and local level.

YEU Cyprus is a full member of the Cyprus Youth Council and is represented in the CYC Board. It is also a member of the Advisory Body of the Cyprus Youth Board, the semi -governmental organization responsible for youth issues in Cyprus. YEU Cyprus is affiliated with the YEU International platform which is under the European Youth Forum umbrella.

YEU Cyprus advocates on the rights of young people with regards to having voice in the Cypriot society and beyond; Some of the related topics are human rights, rights of minorities, racism, xenophobia, extremism etc. In addition, it organises and participates as a partner in various international and local activities and events. On international level, YEU Cyprus organizes and delivers training courses, youth exchanges and EVS projects on different topics, focusing always on youth development, awareness raising and capacity building. The organization focuses also in empowering the voice of young people through Structured Dialogue aiming at policy making under the Erasmus+ and other programmes. The methodology of the activities is based on non-formal education and experiential learning. YEU Cyprus also gives its members the opportunity to participate in international activities abroad such as in partner’s training courses, youth exchanges, European Voluntary Service (EVS), Partnership Building Activities (PBAs), seminars, SALTO events and the YEU International Youth Convention.

On local level, in attempt to bring youngsters together and make them aware of different topics, YEU Cyprus organizes Theatre of the Oppressed, Human Libraries, workshops and seminars on different topics (for example human trafficking, non-formal education, volunteering), street festivals, laughter festival, geocahing, field trips and other activities.


Who We Are


Eirini is the President of YEU Cyprus since 2015. She is a Civil Engineer and she believes strongly in volunteerism, something that is reflected in her favourite quote by H. Jackson Brown Jr: “Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.”


Miranda is the Treasurer of YEU Cyprus. She has finished her studies in Accounting & Finance and Business Administration. She is currently doing her EVS in Bulgaria, where she is volunteering for the purposes of Varna European Youth Capital 2017. She has been a Board Member of YEU Cyprus since January 2014 and she is actively involved in various actions of YEU, both on a local, and an international scale. Miranda loves being a part of YEU Cyprus. In her own words: “I truly love belonging to such an organization – I may give some of my free time and energy to YEU Cyprus, but it gives me so much more in return”.


Lefki is the Organizational Secretary of YEU Cyprus. She is a primary school teacher and she has participated in various Training Courses and Youth Exchanges. Lefki met YEU Cyprus in 2012 through a non formal education worskshop and since then she is inspired to act for youth and to promote youth education.


Natasa is a primary school teacher. She is passionate about her profession and she loves to teach kids using Non-Formal Educational methods for them to acquire knowledge and skills in a fun way. She has been energetically involved in YEU for the last three years. As an International Events Secretary, she is engaged in activities that promote mutual understanding and respect among the young people of the world. She is very much engaged in sports and outdoor activities and she organizes workshops, events and training courses on related issues. As a Licensed Zumba Fitness Instructor for adults and kids, she tries to promote the well-being of young people for them to lead a healthy lifestyle.



 Yiota has been a board member since 2014 where she holds the Programmes' Development Secretary. She loves travelling and believes that education will bring the change we need in our world and YEU Cyprus.


Maria is the International Affairs Secretary. She holds an LLB degree and LLM in Corporate Governance. The reason she is involved with the YEU Cyprus is because she believes that youth people from all over the world can build a better tomorrow and can be the decision makers of a better world with equal opportunities and justice for all. Since being a child she remembers herself applying Voluntarism to her community and organizing events for all the kinds of people irrespective of origin, age, political status etc.


 Skevi is the Press Secretary of YEU Cyprus. She is an English teacher who loves to travel, eat, meet people, speak different languages and above all enjoy life to the fullest. Skevi has participated in almost all European programmes - Comenius, Erasmus, Grundtvig, Leonardo Da Vinci, Youth Exchanges and EVS - and has realised that the things that unite us are more than the ones that keep us apart.    

Maria Argyride

Maria is a primary school teacher and has participated in various actions of YEU Cyprus since 2012. She is inspired to promote youth and non-formal education. She has been a Board Member of YEU Cyprus since January 2017 and she loves this new chapter of her life. “We make a life by what we give”. 

Maria Mavronicola

Maria has been in the YEU family since January 2017. She is an English language teacher and has participated in various programs and Training Courses under Erasmus+. She believes that education is a powerful tool to achieve social change and that’s why she became involved in Youth Work and Non Formal Education. Maria is very sensitive to topics concerning the environment and the human rights. She’s passionate about discovering the world through travelling, meeting new people, reading and –why not?- learning a new language! Favourite season: Spring!
