About YEU Cyprus

YEU Cyprus stands for Youth for Exchange and Understanding Cyprus and it is a non-political, non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Cyprus. It was established in 1995 with the aim to foster closer co-operation and better understanding among the young people of the world through the exchange of information, experiences and ideas. YEU Cyprus is one of the biggest youth organizations in Cyprus numbering more than 1000 members. It is considered to be one of the most active organizations of the island realizing several activities both on international and local level.

YEU Cyprus is a full member of the Cyprus Youth Council and is also a member of the Advisory Body of the Cyprus Youth Board, the semi -governmental organization responsible for youth issues in Cyprus. YEU Cyprus is affiliated with the YEU International platform which is under the European Youth Forum umbrella.

YEU Cyprus advocates on the rights of young people with regards to having voice in the Cypriot society and beyond; Some of the related topics are human rights, rights of minorities, racism, xenophobia, extremism etc. The organization focuses also in empowering the voice of young people through Structured Dialogue aiming at policy making under the Erasmus+ and other programmes. The methodology of the activities is based on non-formal education and experiential learning. In addition, it organizes and participates as a partner in various international and local activities and events. On an international level, YEU Cyprus organizes and delivers training courses, youth exchanges and ESC projects on different topics, focusing always on youth development, awareness raising and capacity building. YEU Cyprus also gives its members the opportunity to participate in international activities abroad such as in partner’s training courses, youth exchanges, European Voluntary Service (EVS), European Solidarity Corps (ESC), Partnership Building Activities (PBAs), seminars, SALTO events and the YEU International Youth Convention.

On a local level, in attempt to bring youngsters together and make them aware of different topics, YEU Cyprus organizes Theater of the Oppressed, Human Libraries, workshops and seminars on different topics (for example human trafficking, non-formal education, volunteering), street festivals, laughter festival, geocaching, field trips and other activities.

Chrystalla Panayi

Chrystalla is the President of YEU Cyprus. She is works as a Director of a Projects Department in a consultancy firm and holds 2 bachelor's degrees in European Studies and Modern Languages and in Classical Studies from the University of Cyprus. She loves learning new languages, binge-watching series, meeting new people and travelling around the world. If you find a half-eaten cookie in a jar, you can blame it on her  (she just loves trying stuff and leaving a piece behind for others). Her favorite movie: 2001: A Space Odyssey!







Evie Grouta

Evie is currently the vice-president of YEU Cyprus and joined YEU in January 2018. She is passionate about peace, museums and dance and very happy that she can do all these for a living. She loves channeling her energy into travelling, volunteering and gaining new experiences and skills. Evie believes that learning, sharing and trying to make the world a better place are some of the greatest aspects of human behavior and at the same time the reasons she is part of YEU.









Andriani Antoniadou

Andriani is the General Secretary of YEU Cyprus. Some of her favorite things to do are walking around and exploring new places, going to rock concerts and music festivals, starting new craft projects (and hopefully finishing them) and making people smile. She believes that volunteerism is a great tool to teach young people how important their actions can be for the society. As a future primary school teacher, she wishes to empower kids and young people, encourage cooperation and collectiveness among them and promote open-mindedness and acceptance.









Anna Damaskinou

Anna is the Organizational Secretary of YEU Cyprus. She holds a European Studies and Modern Languages Degree from the University of Cyprus and a Masters in Transcultural Studies from the University of Heidelberg. Her focus was Visual Media and Material Cultures and her thesis was on Transcultural bicommunal art projects in Cyprus. She is very interested in the many forms of art, primarily films and political art. She has participated in some bicommunal projects which inspired her to be more active and hopefully inspire others to work towards reconciliation.










Miranda Zavrou

Miranda is the Secretary of events in YEU Cyprus. She has a background in Accounting and an MBA, but a great passion for Non-Formal Education in youth work. She is a trainer in NFE and a hardcore YEU member, since she is currently one of the oldest members of the board. 

Annita Tsolaki

Annita Tsolaki was born and raised in Cyprus. She holds a BA in Sociology and Social Anthropology from the University of Kent, UK and continues her studies in (MA) Political Sciences-International Relations at the University of Cyprus. She has worked as a youth worker at YEU Cyprus and she is currently working as an EU Project Manager and researcher at the Center for Social Innovation. Through her work, she aims to raise awareness on several societal challenges, promote multidisciplinary analysis and offer sustainable and innovative solutions.

Irene Yerolemidou

Irene is a medical student at the University of Cyprus and she is extremely passionate about non-formal and peer-peer education.   She has first met our Organisation through different Erasmus plus projects and local actions and she is a member of the Executive Board since November 2019.  She really loves travelling, going to the theater and dancing.


Costas Christoforou

Costas Christoforou is the treasurer of the YEU Cyprus. He has been a member of our board since October 2019. He is employed as an Independent Business Advisor and Corporate Trainer. Costas is an Intrinsically motivated creature, a zealot of life - long learning and a believer of making a difference in society through people - centric approach and provision of quality education to all. Among his biggest dreams is to travel the whole world. Prior to or after that, he will stop by the moon.

Ekaterini Kotzia

Ekaterini Kotzia is our European Solidarity Corps officer, responsible for the volunteering projects at YEU Cyprus. She loves working with people from different countries because she thinks it is the second best way to get to know the world. The best way is travelling which is what she does at any given opportunity. Ekaterini has a BA in Hospitality and Tourism Management and is a trained lifeguard. She spends her free time in nature. 
Ekaterini believes that in life we all need to feel and be grateful at any given time. 








Mary Ioannidou

 Mary Ioannidou is
