Volunteering Opportunity in Thessaloniki
United Societies of Balkans (U.S.B.) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Thessaloniki, Greece, working in the field of youth mobility, participation and promoting youth awareness of social issues. Along with Sympraxi, one of the most active organizations for the LGBT community in Thessaloniki and Northern Greece, are opening a call for two volunteers from Cyprus.
Project’s description:
The volunteers will be involved in the organization of several activities in Thessaloniki and the surrounding areas. The two main projects are:
- Variety of gender roles / identities and sexual orientation in
Thessaloniki, in the recent past and now. Focus on expatriation: cultural possibilities of the host city and new residents - Screening of films on the spectrum of sexual orientation and
gender roles – identities: LGBTIQ / GLAD
Participant’s profile:
A person who is:
- between 18-30 years old from Cyprus
- motivated to live a new experience
- flexible
- outgoing
- willing to spend 8 months in Greece
- highly motivated to join the activities planned in the project
- highly interested in the topic
Accommodation, Food and Pocket money allowance:
- Accommodation: volunteers are going to be accommodated in a fully equipped building located in the city centre. Each volunteer will share their room with one or three more people (we have double and big quadruple rooms).
- Food: three meals per day through a catering service that prepares food according to their preference and allergies
- Pocket money allowance: 5 euros per day *monthly pass for the local transportation

The volunteer must participate for a period of 8 months starting from:
- March 2021 or
- April 2021 or
- October 2021
