The Żory Public Library is a very dynamic place in the city. The museum recognizes and fulfills educational and cultural needs of the local community. It is an institution of social confidence, with strong influence on society and encourages its readers to take part in a self-development and self-realization processes, through a variety of activities that the library offers such as educational meetings, discussion panels, poetry evenings, photography workshops, etc. The Museum takes part in the “Digital Poland of Equal Opportunities” programme, which focuses on digital education of grown-up Poles in their local environment, lead the Local Coding Club where young people can learn a lot about new technologies and carries out many national and international projects.
Main Objectives:The aim of the “Creative space @ library” project, implemented since 2016, is encouraging initiative, creativity and active participation of youth in public and cultural life, as well as expertise-based development of our library. This will create an opportunity to broaden our cultural offer with new activities, guaranteeing growing interest in European cultural diversity - and the library - among the locals. The project enables and encourages young people to play an active role in their local communities, first in Poland, and then in their homeland. The project helps develop solidarity, tolerance and responsibility, promotes European diversity in an attractive manner, and teaches respect for it, permitting young people from different societies to carry out common actions, creating broad possibilities of intercultural learning.
Project Activities: 5 February 2019 to 31 January 2020
Venue: The project takes place in Żory, Poland
Accommodation: The volunteers are hosted according to ESC standards in a good equipped, modern and comfortable apartment in the city center (large living room, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, TV and access to the internet)
Allowance: The host organisation will give to the volunteers a monthly allowance for food and pocket money.
